Trevor Roberts (25 February 1942 – June 1972) was an English professional footballer who made a total of 207 league appearances before dying of a brain tumour, at the age of 30.
Trevor began his career as a youth player at Liverpool, combining his playing there with studying for a degree in georgraphy at Liverpool University,[1] before turning professional in 1965 with Southend United. Between 1965 and 1970, Roberts made a total of 171 league appearances for Southend.[2] Roberts also played for Cambridge United, where he made 36 league appearances between 1970 and 1972.[3]
In 1968 Roberts successfully battled lung cancer.[1] In February 1972 he was admitted to hospital with a brain tumour and died in June 1972 in a nursing home, at the age of 30.[4][5]
